VULNERABILITIES FOR WHICH EXPLOITS ARE AVAILABLE
MOST PREVALENT MALWARE FILES 5/9/2013 - 5/14/2013
in-the-wild exploits were discovered, Microsoft this week patched
CVE-2013-1347, a remotely exploitable IE8 issue for which Metasploit and
other public exploit code exists. This month’s patches included fixes
for 32 other CVEs across 10 bulletins, including issues exploitable with
the bochspawn tool presented as Syscan 2013 last month.
Title: Microsoft Tuesday release fixes IE8 0-day, 33 total CVEs
Description: The recently discovered IE8 0-day, which has been
circulating with weaponized exploit code for over a week now, was
patched in this week’s Microsoft Tuesday release. The patches, which
cover 33 CVEs across 10 bulletins, include fixes for a number of “double
fetch” kernel-level vulnerabilities disclosed in Mateusz Jurczyk and
Gynvael Coldwind’s Syscan 2013 talk, as well as several other remotely
exploitable issues for which no public code is yet available.
Administrators are urged to patch promptly, as further exploits are
likely to appear in the wild in the short term.

Title: ColdFusion 0-day appears in the wild
Description: A trivially exploitable (from a web browser) vulnerability
appeared in the wild, complete with sample exploit code, for all
versions of ColdFusion last week. The vulnerability, which can result
in disclosure of administrative credentials, results from a common
misconfiguration, and can easily be fixed by either applying the
recently supplied patches from Adobe or locking down potentially
vulnerable servers.

Title: Regents of University of Louisiana site compromised, served
Sirefef malware
Description: Typical of a long-term trend in the current threat
landscape, the web site of the Regents of the University of Louisiana
was recently compromised via a Wordpress vulnerability, and used to
serve the notorious Sirefef malware to anyone visiting the site.
Wordpress administrators are urged to lock their sites down as tightly
as possible, and to consider running IDS signatures such as Sourcefire
SID 26618, which detect malicious executables being served from within
your protected network, to help respond to incidents like these
promptly.

ID: CVE-2013-1347
Title: Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 Use-After-Free Memory Corruption
Vulnerability
Vendor: Microsoft
Description: Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 does not properly handle
objects in memory, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary
code by accessing an object that (1) was not properly allocated or (2)
is deleted, as exploited in the wild in May 2013.

Title: Adobe ColdFusion Information Disclosure Vulnerability (APSB13-13)
Vendor: Adobe
Description: Unspecified vulnerability in Adobe ColdFusion 9.0, 9.0.1,
9.0.2, and 10 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via
unknown vectors.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.0 (AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N)
ID: CVE-2013-2423
Title: Java Applet Reflection Type Confusion Remote Code Execution
Vendor: Oracle
Description: Unspecified vulnerability in the Java Runtime Environment
(JRE) component in Oracle Java SE 7 Update 17 and earlier, and OpenJDK
7, allows remote attackers to affect integrity via unknown vectors
related to HotSpot. NOTE: the previous information is from the April
2013 CPU. Oracle has not commented on claims from the original
researcher that this vulnerability allows remote attackers to bypass
permission checks by the MethodHandles method and modify arbitrary
public final fields using reflection and type confusion, as demonstrated
using integer and double fields to disable the security manager.

ID: CVE-2013-0632
Title: Adobe ColdFusion APSB13-03 Remote Exploit
Vendor: Adobe
Description: Adobe ColdFusion 9.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2, and 10 allows remote
attackers to bypass authentication and possibly execute arbitrary code
via unspecified vectors, as exploited in the wild in January 2013.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 10.0 (AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C)
ID: CVE-2013-1493
Title: Oracle Java SE JVM 2D Subcomponent Remote Code Execution
Vulnerability (Oracle Security Alert for CVE-2013-1493)
Vendor: Oracle
Description: The color management (CMM) functionality in the 2D
component in Oracle Java SE 7 Update 15 and earlier, 6 Update 41 and
earlier, and 5.0 Update 40 and earlier allows remote attackers to
execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (crash) via an image
with crafted raster parameters, which triggers (1) an out-of-bounds read
or (2) memory corruption in the JVM, as exploited in the wild in
February 2013.
